European consensus statement on expert colposcopy
DISCUSSION: The agreed standards included colposcopy in pregnancy and post-menopause, investigation and management of glandular abnormalities, persistent high-risk HPV+ with normal/low-grade cytology, colposcopy management of type 3 transformation zones (TZ), high-grade cytology and normal colposcopy, colposcopy adjuncts, follow-up after treatment with CIN next to TZ margins and follow-up after treatment with CIN with persistent HPV+, and more. These standards are under review to create a final paper of consensus standards for dissemination to all EFC and ESGO members.PMID:37716200 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejogrb.2023.08.369

A synthetic delivery vector for mucosal vaccination
Biomaterials. 2023 Sep 5;302:122298. doi: 10.1016/j.biomaterials.2023.122298. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe success of mRNA-based vaccines during the Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the value of this new platform for vaccine development against infectious disease. However, the CD8+ T cell response remains modest with mRNA vaccines, and these do not induce mucosal immunity, which would be needed to prevent viral spread in the healthy population. To address this drawback, we developed a dendritic cell targeting mucosal vaccination vector, the homopentameric STxB. Here, we describe the highly efficient chemical synthesi...

Prophylactic HPV vaccines in patients with HPV-associated diseases and cancer
Vaccine. 2023 Sep 11:S0264-410X(23)00990-8. doi: 10.1016/j.vaccine.2023.08.047. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIndividuals with human papillomavirus (HPV)-related disease remain at risk for subsequent HPV infection and related disease after treatment of specific lesions. Prophylactic HPV vaccines have shown benefits in preventing subsequent HPV-related disease when administered before or soon after treatment. Based on our understanding of the HPV life cycle and vaccine mechanism of action, prophylactic HPV vaccination is not expected to clear active persistent HPV infection or unresected HPV-associated dysplastic tissue rem...
